Industrial applications for radioactive materials cover a wide range of endeavors. The number of industries in Canada that are licensed to use radioactive materials is in the thousands. Many nuclear gauging devices are used to control critical operations within a plant and their failure to function properly can affect the performance of a production process. Nuclear gauges are fast, accurate and reliable. However, a defective or damaged gauge can be a potential radiation exposure hazard to personnel if not maintained properly.

To ensure that our clients do not lose time, productivity or face any potential health risks, Stuart Hunt & Associates provides complete servicing and preventative maintenance on source holders. To date, we are licensed to install, remove and service more than two hundred and seventy five different nuclear gauging devices.

For our client, this means that we are among the most flexible and accommodating nuclear gauge service available. Like all of our services, our nuclear gauge division focuses on top-quality results and an efficient turnaround time.

Stuart Hunt & Associates has both the equipment and expertise for the safe installation, removal and replacement of nuclear gauge sealed radioactive sources. Removal of sources from damaged source holders, and replacement of depleted radioactive sources can be carried out at a client's site or at our facility in St. Albert. The radiation dose control measures employed are the same for both locations. Source transfers and handling are only carried out by personnel who have received appropriate training and are aware of the risks involved. Source handling procedures are strictly controlled to ensure that no person receives an unnecessary radiation dose. All radioactive source handling procedures are designed to keep radiation doses As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).

In addition to fixed nuclear gauges, we equipped to repair, service and calibrate many of the Troxler-line portable gauges.

Check our site for the annual "Winter Specials" which can save you money on the servicing of your Troxler portable gauge.

The storage of nuclear gauging systems removed from service can be a problem when dedicated radioactive material storage space is not available. Stuart Hunt & Associates has a radioactive material storage license issued by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. This license can be used for both temporary and long term storage of radioactive material including nuclear gauging devices. If you require dry, clean storage space suitable for nuclear gauging devices give us a call. We accept regulatory responsibility for all nuclear gauges belonging to our clients while they are held in our storage facility.

Custom designed radiation hazard warning signs in either plastic or metal are manufactured in-house. Provide us with the information that you require for a sign and we will put together an engraved sign that meets all of the CNSC requirements.

All signs are supplied with black or magenta lettering and trefoil on a yellow background.
