Stuart Hunt & Associates Welcomes Canada's Nuclear Renaissance and Stands Ready to Support Industry Growth

June 24, 2026

"The investments being made today will create opportunities for generations to come," Hunt added. "

Stuart Hunt & Associates (SHA) is welcoming the Government of Canada's new national nuclear strategy, which calls for the construction of up to ten new reactors over the next 15 years and positions nuclear energy as a cornerstone of the country's low-carbon future.

The strategy, announced by Energy Minister Tim Hodgson, aims to launch a new era of nuclear development in Canada through major investments in large-scale reactors, small modular reactors (SMRs), uranium production, and the export of Canadian CANDU technology.

For more than four decades, Stuart Hunt & Associates has supported Canada's nuclear sector with radiation protection instrumentation, calibration services, and technical expertise. As the industry enters a period of significant growth, the company stands ready to help support the next generation of nuclear projects.

"Canada's commitment to expanding nuclear energy represents an exciting new chapter in our country's energy story,"
said Sean Hunt, President of Stuart Hunt & Associates.

"We stand ready and fully capable of supporting this national strategy. Stuart Hunt & Associates has a long track record of providing radiation protection equipment, calibration services, and technical expertise to Canada's nuclear sector, and we look forward to continuing that support as the industry grows."

The federal plan envisions construction beginning on two new large-scale reactors by 2035, with five more projects planned or under development by 2040. It also targets expanded international markets for Canadian nuclear technology and projects that employment in the nuclear sector will grow from approximately 90,000 jobs today to more than 180,000 in the coming decades.

"The investments being made today will create opportunities for generations to come," Hunt added. "

As Canada strengthens its position as a global nuclear leader, we are excited to be part of this next phase of growth and innovation. Safe, reliable nuclear power will play a vital role in delivering the low-carbon energy future Canadians expect, and Stuart Hunt & Associates is proud to support the people and organizations making that future possible."

With a long history of serving Canada's nuclear industry, Stuart Hunt & Associates remains committed to providing the radiation protection solutions and calibration services needed to help power the next chapter of Canadian nuclear innovation.
