Total Image Unsharpness Gage according to ISO 19232-5, ASTM E2002
The Duplex Wire Type IQI is a Flexible DDA Duplex Wire Gauge that is capable of bending around curved surfaces, such as pipes, to achieve a precise evaluation of basic spatial resolution and unsharpness in digital X-ray imaging.
Note: The matching flexible IQI magnetic holder (RT-KT-11-00159) is purchased separately from the Flexible Duplex Wire Type IQI, ISO 19232-5, ASTM E2002 (RT-KT-11-00158)
Normal Duplex Vs. Flexible Duplex IQI
The Flexible Duplex Wire Type IQI was compared to a normal D13 IQI. The findings are as follows:
- Flexible Duplex Wire Type IQI dimensions are 72 mm long x 5 mm thick vs the
- Standard D13 dimensions 70 mm long x 3 mm thick
- The Flexible Duplex Wire Type IQI resolution agreed with the standard D13 gauge
- The Flexible Duplex Wire Type IQI bent to 2” pipe diameter
Applications and Conformances
The Duplex Wire Type IQI is used for basic spatial resolution evaluation of digital images in accordance with the:
- EN 13068 (Radioscopy)
- ISO 16371 or ASTM E2445 (CR – Computed Radiography with Imaging Plates)
- ASTM E2446 and ASTM E2597 (characterization of CR systems and DDAs)
- ASTM E2737 (Long term stability of DDAs)
Other applications include the:
- ISO 17636-2 (digital radiography of welds)
- EN 12681-2 (castings)
